Welcome Week 2010 Update – Moving of Saturday’s Activities to Sunday
Due to the forecast weather conditions related to Hurricane Earl, we are making changes to our Welcome Week schedule for Saturday and Sunday. We are moving some of the scheduled activities for the arrival of first-year students from Saturday to Sunday.
First-year students were scheduled to arrive on Saturday and they can now arrive on Sunday and will not miss any activities. If first-year students do choose to arrive Saturday, there will be Residence Life staff here to register them for residence. The main Welcome Week events for that day, however, have been moved to Sunday.
• The President’s Welcome/Reception for Parents and Supporters is being moved from Saturday to Sunday. It will take place at the same time from 1:00 - 2:30 pm.
• The Cheer-Off is being moved from Saturday to Sunday. It will take place at the same time at 8:00 pm.
I know that this may cause some inconvenience; but, I trust you understand that we have to consider the safety and convenience of those students who have to travel to our university.

Welcome Week is a time for you to have fun and get to know others while transitioning to university life. There are all sorts of activities that will make your first week at STU one of the best of your life. Remember that everyone is in the same position as you so be sure to participate. To make this week as safe and fun as possible it will be alcohol free.
