International Conference on Spirituality and Social Work

It is my pleasure to let you know that the Canadian Society for Spirituality and Social Work will host the 2010 conference at the University of Calgary, in Calgary, AB on June 17-19, 2010.

The University of Calgary has an excellent conference facility with full access. All activities can be held on-site. This international conference is co-sponsored by the Society for Spirituality and Social Work, USA.

While planning for the conference continues, we are delighted to announce that Richard Wagamese & Dr. Alean Al-Krenawi will be our keynote speakers this year. Richard Wagamese, a member of the Objibway Nation, is an award winning Canadian writer. His works have grappled with the spiritual impact of colonization on First Nations peoples. More on his work can be found at www.richardwagamese.com.

Dr. Alean Al-Krenawi is the Killam Visiting Scholar at the Faculty of Social Work, University of Calgary, and is the former Chair of the Spitzer School of Social Work, Ben Gurion University of the Negev, and. Professor Al-Krenawi has written extensively on social and mental health service delivery in the Muslim Arab world, and brings his insight from his cross-cultural research, and his work with Muslim communities to our conference.
