General Event
Indigenous Film Series: Elijah
Mar 28, 2018 4:00 PM-6:00 PM, Kinsella Auditorium, Fredericton, NB, Canada
Based on real events, Elijah tells the story of a tense time in Canadian history, when the Meech Lake Accord was presented to Canada’s Ministers for approval, and was brought down as a result of one man’s actions.

This film tells the story of Elijah Harper, a Cree leader, MLA, and MP from Manitoba, who opposed the Meech Lake Accord. This film takes a smart and lighthearted look at an important historical moment, digging underneath the constitutional crisis of the time to reveal a true homegrown David and Goliath story.

Discussion to be led by Graydon Nicholas

This event is part of a series of events to address how St. Thomas University can participate in meeting the demands articulated by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. It was organized by the Ad Hoc Senate Committee on the Indigenization of the Academy.
